Many folks have their own boats as a means of getting to a good scattering location. You probably have your own way to use the SeaCase in your ocean ceremony. Regulations vary as it relates to scattering remains over land, but typically over water, you are supposed to be at least (3) miles off the coast. That turns out to be just about where the horizon is. When you reach your destination, we suggest you either anchor or head up wind. That way you can use the stern where delivery is the easiest. The SeaCase use guide manual offers a few tips on use as well. Your crematories and mortuaries will properly inform you of local regulations, don't be afraid to ask them. You may also check our resource page for valuable links to answer your personal questions. Start with the E.P.A. link.
There are other options if you want some hands on help. Scattering Services are available for many areas along the coastline. You can put together a group of folks, and a licensed Captain will help you to perform that custom, special moment in time. This service should include G.P.S. numbers that would allow you to return to the exact same spot in the future. A search of the Web provide you many options. You may want some local advice and recommendation. You could try a few scattering service links provided below for the Florida area.

We also know that many Mortuaries will take your ashes to sea and spread them for a low cost. This would be an unattended service, and you would probably not want a SeaCase urn for this instance. You may want to request the G.P.S. numbers where the scattering took place however. You could return to the spot in the future if you wanted to.
